Interaction Design

In a combination of art and technology, Rooster lighting collaborates with Brisbane based artists Michael Candy and Meagan Streader. The installation on the monument of Gasworks Plaza in Newstead, Brisbane, Australia won the 2014 Australia NewZealand Engineering Society (IESANZ) Queensland Best Lighting Design Award.

Lighting Design

Customised LEDs that resemble clouds are the interactive feature of the luminaire which respond to the way people move around the installation. A total of 10 different cloud shaped luminaires are suspended from the outer structure of the century old converted gas drum.  Cameras are installed on each luminaire to collect the movements of those in the vacinity. These movements are converted into electronic signals to control the way the lights perform.

The unique installation gives the historical monument a fresh look. As the monument becomes more populated with people and their movements, the more the lighting installations will flicker. With our many year in the design and manufacture of customised lighting fixtures we have gained the trust of Australian artists and investors. We actively communicate with the artists and integrate their ideas with our design and production process. It took us under 9 weeks to see this installation through from concept design to delivery and handover overseas.
