Landscape Lighting Design｜Kaohsiung City 'KUBIC' Container Settlement

The KUBIC Container settlement is located in the former town area of Kaohsiung City and is now a multi-faceted, experimental urban innovation practice group combining art, innovative technology, science, agriculture, production and sales, composed of 33 large and small converted shipping containers. The settlement opened on March 31, 2017 and is the epitome of construction of the New Bay Area in Asia. The core spirit of Kaohsiung is the flipping and rebuilding of the harbour space. The emerging industries, green sustainability and urban regeneration are the main axes of the curation. The design of this park is specifically based on the collection and stacking of symbolic images from the harbour - Shipping Containers - A symbol of the harbour's diverse industry. 

Lighting Design

Rooster Lighting has undertaken the lighting design of the project to provide a rich lighting experience. There are different areas of the settlement which have different lighting qualities; The shipping containers themselved are multicoloured to provide the "rainbow vision" of the project. Repeating this rainbow theme, coloured light bands project onto the ground. The lighting, full of rich bright colours has become a symbol of the city's competetive branding among other cities. The KUBIC logo installation is also lit with bright multi colours. Rooster reinvents the light environment of the container box settlement and surrounding area, revitilising the urban space with local cultural characteristics.
