Bringing the North Pole to Taiwan
Bringing the cold weather to the subtropical climate of Pingtung. The design of simple geometric shapes and festive lighting design is the essense of a nordic Christmas atmosphere. We use lots of white and blue colour lighting to bring this atmpsphere to life in Zhongshan Park in Pingtung City.
Lighting Design
The main attraction is the "Romantic Crystal Ball", staged at the front of Yingbin Coconute Grove Avenue. The ballet girl in the large cystal ball rotates in the snow. We combine this imagery with our RGB lighting show effects to romantisise the installation. Our "European Christmas Banner Lights " in the Coconut Grove Avenue help the festival goers feel like they are celebrating a european Christmas. "Mirror Water Moon", suspended over the lake is a geometric polyhedral cortex which produces different lighting effects over its reflection on the water. "The tree of life" near Renai Road has fruits symbolising different races and lives - a representation of symbiotic living. On the other end of the bougenvillia tunnel, hundreds of geometric triangles to creat the "Aurora Tunnel" - A symbol of happiness in the Christmas Season. After passing through "Aurora Tunnel" comes the "Ice of the Snow Country" and the "Village" with the warm light source and images of fireplace . The warm atmosphere in the "Village" effectively contrasts the cool ice atmosphere and the elk character in the "Animal Part in the Snow". Everyone enjoys the festive season in the park full of wonderful imagination and christmas spirit.
In order to increase the wonder and imagination of our lighting concepts our lights were designed at different scales to produce interesting view effects, angles and perspectives. This is typical of nordic style decorations and lighting fixtures; "Giant Micro-landscape". The "Xingyuemei" lighting device, with its warm white star illumination, helps people to feel the healing atmosphere of the North Pole. People can enjoy watching, chatting and taking photos throught the Christmas Festival in Pingtung Park.
