The Most Beautiful Subway Station in World - Kaohsiung Formossa Boulevard

The Kaohsiung MRT system has been in operation since its opening in 2008. The most famous of all stations is Formossa Boulevard Station, designed by Japanese architect Takamatsu. The shell-like entrance and exit has the symbolic meaning of prayer. The largest public artwork inside of the station, was hand painted by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata and co operated with the renowned German Derix workshop in Europe. It is mafe of full- painted glass and is the largest glass artwork in the world. This station is also the first MRT station in Taiwan to be translated into Portuguese. 

Lighting Design

In order to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the opening of Kaohsiung MRT, Rooster Lighting specially designed a light show on the perimeter edge of the Dome of Light artwork. We also selected two of the shell-like entrances to be replaces with warm light to pride the entrances and exists with crystal clear rich feelings of warmth. With integration of special RGB lighting and laser lights, a light show is designed with customised display and music synchronisation. A true joy for those passing through the station.
