Themed light show|Kaohsiung MRT Formosa Station’s Dome of Light themed light show

Use colorful show lights to give the light dome a different artistic atmosphere

The Dome of Light at Kaohsiung Formosa Station, one of the most beautiful subway stations in the world

It has been seven years since the Kaohsiung MRT was opened in 2008. The most famous of all stations is Formosa Station. This station was designed by Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu. The shell-shaped entrance and exit has the symbolic meaning of prayer. The largest public art work inside the station, the Dome of Light, was hand-painted by the Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata and made of fully painted glass in cooperation with the well-known German Derix workshop in Europe, making it the largest glass art in the world. This station is also the first MRT station in Taiwan to have a Portuguese translation.

Lighting design

In order to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the opening of Kaohsiung MRT, our company specially designed the most special lighting design for Formosa Station, the most famous MRT station in Kaohsiung, from the entrance to the largest glass artwork - the Dome of Light. We selected two of the shell-like entrances and replaced them with warm yellow lights, giving the four entrances a crystal clear, rich and warm feeling. For the light dome, our company specially uses RGB colorful display lights and laser lights, paired with customized performance programs and music, so that the light dome presents a special atmosphere that is different from ordinary fluorescent lights that are all bright, and also attracts the attention of people passing by. Tourists and people all stopped to watch.
