Kaohsiung City Park Land Bridge transforms the memory of the city’s progressive culture

After the park land bridge connecting Gushan and Yancheng was in operation for 38 years, due to the completion of the Linhai New Road at-grade road construction, in order to preserve the historical memory of urban development, the Kaohsiung City Government transformed the red arch bridge design into a sky platform. From the sky platform, you can overlook the Hama Star Railway Cultural Park and the green corridor of Park Road. From a distance, you can see the cruise ships entering Kaohsiung Port. The old bridge is like an old railway, creating new life. The design concept of the Sky Cloud Terrace pulls the white clouds in the sky closer to the head during the day and becomes a parasol; at night, it is a shining new landmark of the railway park, and the expansion joints of cast iron originally embedded in the asphalt road of the land bridge have also been transformed into The comfortable chairs on the bridge provide people and tourists with another good place for cultural sightseeing.

Lighting design

The historic Park Land Bridge was originally going to go into history with the suspension of the Old Port Line in 2008. However, the city government retained the original railway tracks and built the "Hamar Star Railway Cultural Park". In order to integrate with the Pier 2 Art Zone, it was retained The red arch part of the park’s land bridge is removed, making the entire art park more complete.

Rooster Lighting received the lighting needs from the engineering unit, and we did our best to continuously improve the lighting design. We installed white film materials on the bridge body with white light floodlights to make it a bright focus at night. The red bridge arches are illuminated by white floodlights and yellow linear lights, showing traces of its history. The stairs are also illuminated with white light to increase the safety of people walking. Finally, the bridge deck is illuminated with two different underground lighting colors, blue light and white light, to create more different atmospheres, allowing the Park Land Bridge to perform under the light at night. A different atmosphere than during the day.
