Book box in the city

Because of its historical origins, Tainan contains deep cultural connotations in terms of food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment. Because of this atmosphere, the local architectural styles are also full of cultural flavor, especially libraries. The Tainan Municipal Library Yuwen Branch, which opened at the end of last year, is the best example.

The design concept of this library is to embed a wooden box for storing books on a fair concrete base. This wooden box hides abstract human knowledge, and is covered with wooden partitions on the outside, making the metaphor of a book looming. Its shape is obvious and iconic, making the library no longer a rigid square cement building, but also possessing a diverse artistic and cultural atmosphere.

Lighting design

In order to highlight the shape of the wooden grille, our company lit it up with warm white floodlights. Minimalist landscape low lights are also used outside the house to increase ambient lighting. The roof terrace uses special landscape high lights with LED to further highlight the atmosphere like a cafe. The entire building is presented with warm white light, giving the library a comfortable visual environment and allowing the public to obtain the knowledge they want in the library in an easier way.
