TAINAN ART CENTER - TAINAN ART MUSEUM

Field background

The Tainan City Art Museum is composed of two major buildings, Hall 1 and Hall 2, which are connected by the art gallery corridor (Youai Street). Tainan Museum of Art Building 2 was designed by Shi Zhaoyong Architect and Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. The main building is transformed from Tainan's characteristic phoenix flower into a pure and strong pentagonal shape, and then vertically stacked and staggered in various square spaces to create freedom. Flexible visitor circulation, the semi-outdoor platform is shaped like a staircase to create a rest and activity space. Among them, the large-scale pentagonal shading roof is adapted to the local climate in Tainan and simulates the shade effect of natural trees. Through scientific research, the fractal structure is made with geometric shapes to adjust the green energy of the building space. When the sun shines on the fractal shape at different angles, When on the roof, it can present beautiful light and shadow like light penetrating through leaves.

The exhibition space is approximately 2,508 square meters, with 16 exhibition rooms, collection warehouse, cross-disciplinary exhibition hall, children's art center, light dining space, landscape restaurant, and a public parking lot open to the public in the basement.

Lighting design

Rooster Lighting uses EN10 simple series high lamps to provide visitors with bright safety lighting on Youai Street connecting the second exhibition hall. The main building of the Tainan Museum of Fine Arts II uses low-color temperature lighting used by the architect to create an elegant and majestic atmosphere. Through the projection lighting on the upper floor, the pentagonal steel frame structure creates a rhythmic beauty of lines that change between virtual and real. The vertically misaligned blocks of the lower exterior wall project light, creating a light effect of geometric light and dark cascading and light and shadow transformation.

In addition, low color temperature linear lights installed at the entrance steps, spaces under chairs, walkway railings and handrails not only provide visitors with warm and safe guidance lighting, but also create irregular and crisscrossed light strips for the overall landscape of the museum area. Beauty.

The Rooster lighting team and Xiongling engineering team carefully completed the architect's lighting planning and design, which perfectly highlighted the architectural characteristics of the building, giving the Tainan Museum of Art Building 1 and Building 2 a distinguished and bright atmosphere at night, becoming eye-catching. A landmark that is about as beautiful as the night goes by.
