Light Box Theater

The donggang Theatre, once in Chaoyang Street in Dongang was a a valued source of leisure and entertainment in the old days. As the time evolved, the threatre disappeared as the daily life in the area got busier and moved on. Combining art, music and lighting the lighting box small theater installation will showcase the past, present and future of the town. The installation gives back to the visitors and community with a powerful art/ music showcase and an interactive feature to carve light and images onto the three dimensional box display. People will enter the booth and take their photos to upload themselves to the light box, leaving new memories and creating a special moment with friends, family and the community. 

Lighting Design

  The procection mapping show is designed and controlled by Rooster Lighting's LIGHT ARTWORKS division. We used the cultural characteristics and elements of Dongang to inspire our installation at the 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival. Based on the surrounding amount of existing light in the installation's location, we used 2 x 5000Lm projectors with a customised projection mapping system. In the same system we also added the interactive function of a camera in the photo booth to upload photos of the visitors coming to see the light show. It is said that the lifestyle onf Donggang Town is closely related to the sea, therefore in the the surrounding area of the installation we incorporate special images and lanterns inspired by the sea. 
The projection mapping show inspired by Donggang's local characteristic elements on the cubes during 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Pingtung. We have in-cooperate the interactive feature which allows the audiences to leave a special moment during their visit. Yanping Old Street full of the traces of time, is the essence of the town's light district.
